Rob is a geologist with over 40 years’ experience in base metals such as cobalt and nickel, precious metals such as the platinum group metals and gold and diamonds.
In 1973 employed by Tanganyika Holdings Limited, Rob was a member of the team which discovered diamonds in the Kimberley of Western Australia which ultimately led to the later Argyle Diamond Mine discovery.
Rob was the founding CEO and Managing Director of Helix Resources between 1986 and 2006 and then the founding Chairman and CEO of Platina Resources Limited between 2006 and 2018.
Rob brings to Volcanic a wealth of corporate, technical and commercial experience.
thomas abraham-james / managing director

Tom is a geologist educated at the Australian National University. He has over 15 years’ experience in the mineral exploration industry, in both technical and corporate capacities.
In 2008 employed as exploration manager for Platina Resources Ltd, Tom began operating in Greenland, managing and conducting development and exploration activities. He has continued to work in Greenland since, and has an intimate knowledge of how to operate in country.
Tom has held senior positions (managing director and exploration manager) with listed and private explorers, operating in locations spanning 4 continents. He has been involved in the discovery of new mineral resources, notably the Rukwa Helium Project for Helium One Ltd which he was co-founder.
riccardo vittino / non-executive director
Ric has over 30 years’ experience in the resources sector with a focus on corporate and financial management. A graduate from the University of Western Australia, Ric began his career as Company Secretary for Helix Resources Limited.
During his 18-year tenure at Helix, Ric was involved with various IPOs and joint ventures both local and international. He left Helix in 2006 as CEO to pursue a role in South Africa as Finance Director of Central Rand Gold Ltd. He was responsible for overseeing Central Rand Gold’s listing on the Main Board of the LSE and JSE in 2007 and its subsequent progress to pre-feasibility and commencement of trial mining.
Ric has held numerous non-executives Director roles for ASX Listed companies. More recently he was CFO for Moly Mines Limited, a role that concluded in June 2017.
Phillip MacLeod / company secretary
BBus, ASA, FGIA, MAICD
Phil has over 30 years commercial experience and has held the position of company secretary for listed public companies with Australian and international operations since 1995.
Mr MacLeod has provided corporate, compliance and management advice to public and private companies involved in the resources, technology, manufacturing, insurance and financial services, property and healthcare industries.
